One thing that seems apparent is that the time/years between the boom-bust cycle is getting shorter each time.. I can't find any relevant charts though..

What I am very curious about (and want to run some competitions on in the future) is how interested parties (or individuals) might use their ingenuity to design platforms/apps to make use of our API to boost (or create) their own business, or personal work.

with fintech banks, insurance firms, shops and taxi companies etc developing APIs I can see new start up banks being easily able to add to their product range by linking to others' APIs under a white label agreement
